Jefferson High School Renovation:   San Antonio ISD

 Architect:   Ford Powell and Carson

Originally constructed in 1930, Thomas Jefferson High School has become a Texas Landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  Browning Construction was contracted to refurbish various interior areas such as the auditorium, the library, and the science classrooms (all designated as historic interior landmarks by the San Antonio City Council).

Jefferson High School Music Facility:   San Antonio ISD

 Architect:   O'Neil Conrad Opelt

As part of the contract to construct three new music facilities for San Antonio Independent School District, the Jefferson High School Music Facility was designed to match the architecture of the existing Jefferson High School building.  Browning worked closely with all of the district’s music consultants – acoustical, sound equipment, stage & stage lighting, and sound booth to ensure a successful quality project to the client.  The project was built on an active campus while students were in session.

Early Childhood Facilities:   San Antonio ISD

 Architect:   Garza/Bomberger & Associates

As part of the initiative to place Early Childhood Facilities on SAISD elementary school campuses, Browning was contracted to build facilities on 16 different campuses totaling 5600 SF.  A single prototype floor plan was created for all 16 facilities with each building exterior designed to match the existing campus of its perspective location.  The project was built to serve the pre-kindergarten age children of economically underprivileged families in the district.  The project was completed in 5 phases.

Pleasanton ISD Sports Complex:   Pleasanton ISD

 Architect:   Garza/Bomberger & Associates

The Pleasanton High School Athletic Complex is a significant addition to the community of Pleasanton.  The facility is fully equipped with practice and competition courts for both basketball and volleyball.  It also includes complete home and visitor locker rooms and athletic offices.  The complex is a concrete structure with a structural steel roof system.  Translucent panels were used in the lobby area to bring in natural light.

Franklin Elementary School:   San Antonio ISD

 Architect:   Marmon Mok

Franklin Elementary School was originally built in 1915, and the neighborhood association and the San Antonio ISD wished to preserve the original facade.  In a two-phased operation lasting three years, the school was kept in continuous operation while adding a new cafeteria and a gymnasium, and a two-story classroom addition, all pivoting around a naturally lit, intimate library.  The administrative offices now occupy the old building, integrated seamlessly into the new construction.

Connell Middle School:   San Antonio ISD

 Architect:   Garza/Bomberger & Associates

The additions and renovations of Wilber B. Connell Middle School consisted of the remodeling of existing buildings as well as the construction of a new academic building.  New facilities included a gymnasium, cafeteria, kitchen,  library, band hall, science labs, life skills area, computer labs, administration offices and 26 new classrooms.  This was the first construction management-at-risk project undertaken by SAISD. The project was constructed under budget and was a great success to the district.
Highland Forest Elementary School:   East Central ISD
 Architect:  Vitetta
Highland Forest Elementary School is a welcome addition to the rapidly expanding East Central Independent School District.  The facility includes a gymnasium, library, classrooms,  cafeteria, and administrative areas.  Exterior features of the 15 acre campus include extensive landscaping, hardscaping and stormwater detention structures.  As part of the project, significant expansions were made to SE Military Drive and Fairlawn Avenue which created a new intersection with traffic lights.

 San Antonio Academy
 Architect:  Lake Flato
Renovations to the San Antonio Academy provided for major upgrades to two existing school buildings, which required the approval of the San Antonio Historical Society.  All work was undertaken during the school year without disruption to the students and faculty.  A beautiful library, new technology workspaces, science labs, classrooms and a landscaped courtyard/amphitheater were part of this project.
